2022 The quintessentially year or not

2022 – The quintessentially perfect year or not?

There was excitement in the air as we began the year with an optimistic and positive eye. And quite a few of us, began the year 2022 Covid positive-ly. Everyone had big dreams and new workout routines and oh let’s not forget the basic ‘new year- new me’ promise. Well, a few days into this new year now, does it not seem really familiar? A la 2020 all over again?

All the couples are looking forward to the next month, cause it’s the one day in the whole year that they must go big for their partners; and then there’s us, all the singles laughing uproariously at memes that read ‘whoever removed 29th and 30th February, please remove 14th February too’. I believe the best thing to do is go out and book a couples table and sit there solo. Why does one need someone to go out on a fancy dinner?

The third wave has struck in hard, like Covid – 19 coming in with new variants every year, why don’t we focus on our own growth? Well, we’ve not affected a lot of people, but hey, at least you’ve got one person. Your mom? Dad? Sibling? Best friend? Come on, even your pet affects you. Like when they’re sick you worry so much for them. And when you have a cold somehow it’s passed on to every member in your house.

Everyone is looking forward to a magnificent and progressive year, purely judged on how January will go about. So even if one day goes slightly different, 2023 becomes their year! Huh! This is totally absurd. It’s a good thought to look forward to, but it’s bizarre to judge tomorrow based on today. Outlive today completely, cherish the day, seize the moment.

We live so much in worry about the next day we forget to live in the present. In the wise words of Oogway from Kung Fu Panda, “Yesterday is History, Tomorrow is a Mystery and today is a gift, and that’s why it’s called the Present’. Let’s vow to ourselves to at least try to live in the moment from now. January 2022 is going to be just as January 2022 should be like. And so are the rest of the months, so don’t worry, be happy. You are yet to live the most legendary night of your life, so until then live a little happier and smile a little wider, hug a little longer, and worry a little lesser, because – kal ho na ho?
