A Night School that is a hive of activity even by day!

At the Night School in Vandre West

11 am: John F Kennedy once said, “The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.”

The positive state of mind at the Bandra Night School behind the BMC H West office behind ill Roadwas unbelievable, with voters of every age and demographic  rushing to vote at 7.30 am in the morning. Anthony D’Souza (70), using a stick for support, came at 8 am to cast his vote. He said, “Every citizen’s vote should count.” And he is indeed making sure of this. Instead of sitting at home, relaxing, he made sure that his wife, son and daughter-in’law cast their vote.

There were 10 policemen who were allotted to that school. “All over Bandra there are 225 policemen and 75 traffic police on election duty”, said Sunil Bhosle (Assistant Sub Inspector of Bandra).

“Voting is important for change and being a responsible citizen of the country, you need to vote. No,  we cannot expect 100% turnout but even 60% is a great number if people turn up”, said Manoj Lekhejani, a resident of Bandra who came to vote at 7:30am. The people who came to cast their vote at the Bandra night school made their opinion clear that the sitting MLA has done an incredible job in Bandra and the people do trust him so everyone clearly knows which way the wind might blow. As Clayton Mascarenhas said, “I cannot say who will win but I can clearly say that Bandra is and will be in safe hands.”
