23 December 2023: In a recent development at Azad Maidan, our reporters Premsimran Saini and Aman Verma witnessed a tense situation unfold as police deployed smoke bombs and water cannons against a gathering of protesters. The demonstrators, each with their unique set of grievances, voiced opposition primarily against the BMC.
Following the dispersal tactics, law enforcement officials proceeded with drill training exercises on the grounds. Amidst the chaos, one protester, identified as Imran Khan, shared his story. Khan expressed his dissent regarding the BMC’s approval of his property for a construction project against his wishes. His contested land is situated in Saki Naka, Andheri West.
